2:30 - 3:00: KEYNOTE: : Making and selling movies using the unique characteristics of broadband and digital cinema
Most of the studios, and millions of YouTubers, are using broadband to distribute regular linear film and video. But broadband is not just a method of distribution: it is a new medium. And like any medium, if you respect its unique characteristics, it will reward you. We will look at what happens when you use the characteristics of broadband as a medium and put interaction INTO live-action video. We’ll see an example with Sir Ian McKellen which was nominated for an Emmy and a British Academy Award. We’ll see an interactive video which helped win a Gold Lion at Cannes. And we’ll see simple techniques which could help market regular films online in a far more dynamic and powerful way than regular interviews. I'll also demonstrate that there is also potential for interactivity in digital cinema: as a form of advertising or even as content in its own right.
Martin Percy, Senior Interactive Filmmaker, British Telecom
3:00 - 4:30: Presentations: Macrovision, eDef Media Labs

Using the Internet, Social Networks and User-Generated Content to Sell and Market Film
Broadband video is fascinating to consumers, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into money for filmmakers and distributors. A look at some of the models for selling film and video on the Internet and emerging digital platforms, including pay-per-download, advertising and subscription and what these new ways of monetization mean for the future of DVDs and television. Also, we consider the role of social networks and user-generated content in online video sales and marketing.
